GHANA UNVEILS FIRST ASSEMBLED VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLES.

Today, the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, unveiled the first assembled Volkswagen vehicles in Ghana. This follows the establishment of the VW assembly plant in Ghana. Two years ago, Ghana signed an agreement with Volkswagen to establish an assembly plant in Ghana. This happened when the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel paid a visit to Ghana. “It is gratifying to note that VW is going beyond the Beetle to assemble in Ghana other brands namely Tiguan, Teramont, Amarok, Caddy, Polo and Passat. The VW assembly plant will create a lot of highly skilled jobs, reduce the high amounts of foreign exchange used in the importation of second-hand vehicles, and, thereby, help strengthen the Ghanaian currency, whilst, at the same time, earn the nation foreign exchange through the exportation of made-in-Ghana vehicles.” President Akufo-Addo Definitely a step in the direction for our country. Kudos to the Ministry of Trade and Industry for making this success story possible.
