Meet 24 year old Ms. Caroline Bonya; One Of The Two Foreign Students To Graduate Summa Cum Laude From Saratov State Medical University (Russia)

Ms. Caroline Bonya is an alumna of Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Saltpond; Central Region – Ghana, where she served as the President of the Writers’ and Debaters’ club, Deputy Editor in Chief, General Secretary for Red Cross
Society from the year 2013 through to 2014 and was awarded certificates of active service as well as active membership in other organizations such as GUNSA, AFS and SYTO.

She held on to the very words of Michelle Obama; “there is no limit to what we as women can accomplish” and furthered her education outside Ghana where she pursued general Medicine at Saratov State Medical University, Russia.

She recently graduated from the above mentioned university as one of the two and only female foreign student to graduate summa cum Laude making her a holder of the notable “Red diploma”. Ergo, she was awarded a certificate of excellent studies and scientific research.

Not only did she take her academics seriously, she also participated in various extra – curricular activities which equally won her certificates of appreciation, participation, fourth and first place in competitions such as the VI Russian scientific week celebration, Annual scientific debate for the Faculty of Microbiology, Virology and Hygiene, Faculty of Russian Language I Russia Olympics in Russian language and History of medicine and the Faculty of internal medicine and endocrinology “Brain-ring” competition.

During her one year preparatory course at Saratov State Agrarian University, Miss Caroline Bonya also left her mark by graduating with a perfect GPA of 5.0

Being awarded a Certificate of Excellence along with other certificates of participation in the XI international scientific-practical conference, Cultural and International Educational Conference for educational institutions in Saratov and Annual Campaign “Reading Pushkin Together” during her one year of education there. Further more she chalked up interviews with Russia-1 (a renowned television station in Russia) owing to her active participation in the various programs listed above.

Despite having her hands full academically, Ms. Caroline Bonya still served the national union of Ghanaian students in Russia as the National General Secretary(2018-2019),Deputy Speaker of the Royal Senate (2019-2020,Secretary for Media Committee (2017-2018) and Editor for Editorial Committee (2016-2018) She contributed in the organization of the 2019 edition of the Kwame Nkrumah International Debate Competition and other educative radio programs including ones in collaboration with other unions in the diaspora. She also spearheaded the organization of Miss Ghana Russia 2019 which has contributed to the active participation of women in student politics.
She as well served as a Judge on KNIDC 2019 & 2020 editions and was recognized by the union for her active
participation in union activities.

Ms. Caroline Bonya owes her success to the Almighty God and is highly indebted to her family, friends, mentors and mentees for their tremendous support thus far. She continues to live by her favorite quote; “Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives – choice not chance determines your destiny – Aristotle” and promises to work harder despite her setbacks as she terms it; “the iceberg phenomenon of success” – nothing worthwhile comes on a silver platter.
For someone who has had her fair share of setbacks and comebacks in life, she’s determined to show every other
woman that if she can, then so can they.

Ms. Caroline Bonya remains an epitome of beauty with brains. Her integrity and conscientiousness are her greatest assets and her resolute spirit, her hallmark. She aspires to be a voice for her fellow women as she helps champion
the course of women empowerment.
